高校生時代、藤田田に会うために藤田の会社に行く。最初は門前払いを受けるが、何度も訪れて根負けした藤田についに社長室に通されたという。そこで「今度渡米するのだが、アメリカで何をすべきか」と尋ね、コンピューター関連を学ぶように助言された。その後成功した孫は藤田を食事に招待し、藤田はあの時尋ねてきた高校生が孫正義だったかと驚き、非常に感激し、孫の会社に自社パソコン300台を発注したという。（「リスクをとる経営」産経新聞社刊　より　）
